Free Anti Spam Software

IBM thinkpad - no firewalls or software for protection. I use it for internet and email, with some word processing. All use is for personal stuff. it is not conected to other computers.

I use Yahoo Pop email server with upgraded Spam protection. My Treo 700p is also using this method. I recieve about 3000 spams a weeks which renders my treo useless for incoming mail.

Instead of opening my browser to my homepage, http://www.yahoo.com, some kind of malicious software is changing my homepage to http://www.atotalsafety.com, and I am getting constant pop-up messages which try to get me to download security software (anti-spy, anti-adware, scans for spyware, spam protection, etc.). I have a very recent version of Norton Antivirus software installed and running, as well as the malicious software detection tool from Microsoft, but neither program is able to detect this malicious software described above. Has anyone else encountered this problem, and if so, how can it be resolved?

Software sucks along with help menu.

I bought a new computer. My dealer tells me that I should buy all those protection softwares right away. Some of friends tell me that I already have all the protection I need from MS, google, yahoo and High speed internet provider.

What is your opinion ?

I have just upgraded my antivirus software (mcafee total plus), and when installing, it is telling me that i need to remove/uninstall ‘ca etrust antivirus’ otherwise i won’t be able to have spam protection, anti virus or privacy. I cannot find this anywhere on my laptop (not in add/remove programs).

Does anyone know where this could be and how I can remove it?
