Outlook Express - must I have this in order to receive email, or can I delete it?

I apologise in advance if my question is not worded correctly or if the terms I have used are not technically correct.
I receive all my emails through Yahoo mail but I am getting an increasing number of spam emails. Today, I purchased the MailWasher Pro software to help filter out the spam but it seems to want to link up with Outlook Express which I have never used because I could not get it set up. I cannot get MailWasher to associate with Yahoo mail.
1) Do I really need to have Outlook Express if I have Yahoo Mail?
2) If it isn’t essential , how do I remove it from the computer. It is not in Add/Remove and there is no ‘uninstall’ tool attached to it?
3) How do I get MailWasher to filter the emails via Yahoo mail?
Any help at all would be much appreciated.
Thank you.

yahoo has a very good spam filter you just have to learn how to use it…
the programme you bought is for outlook and other non web-based email. web-based email like hotmail, yahoo etc can’t be filtered by it. you can change personal preferences in your mail page you will see options in the right top, when you go there you are able to click mail options and it should show itself.
Good luck!
MailWasher works on POP3 email - the kind that you use by running an email program (like Outlook Express). Yahoo mail is web mail - you connect to it with a web browser - you can’t filter anything on it. (And you can’t use Outlook Express to get Yahoo email for the same reason - OE is a POP3 enail program, Yahoo is a webmail program - they speak different languages.)
Since you’re not using OE, and it’s a pretty lame email program anyway, yes, you can delete it. (I don’t have it on any of my computers.) It’s not in Add/Remove Programs in the Change or Remove Programs tab (on the left), it’s in the Add/Remove Windows Components tab.
Again, you can’t filter Yahoo (or any) webmail any further than the site itself allows you to do.
You could download Thunderbird (a free, and pretty good email program) and use the email server (and address) your provider gives you.
Yahooo Mail is web based which means that your email inbox sits on a Yahoo server You log into it via the Internet and read your mail from there. The mail stays on the Yahoo server. As the mailbox is owned and operated by Yahoo on their servers and software you will not be able to get Mailwasher to work on it.In any case Yahoo has its own anti-spam system.
Outlook Express is an email client. It runs on your PC. When set up correctly it logs onto your Yahoo mailbox and downloads your mail to your PC for you to read in the same way that you read for example a word processing document
Yahoo Mail has a help screen which shows you step by step how to configure Outlook Express.Give it a try. It’s not as complicated as you might think. You will then be able to install Mailwasher.
.
You can’t delete it! It’s part of the operating system, the same with Internet Explorer. Doesn’t mean you have to use them though, you can have a different browser and/or email client.
